Relay for Life in Ely raises $55,935

Relay for Life in Ely Raises $55,935 for cancer treatment and research My parents (Fred and Maurine) making the laps somewhere after 11pm. As you can see they have the decorate paper sacks along the inside and outside of the track. Each one has a message or memorial for either a cancer survivor or someone who has lost their life to cancer. They took some bags and spelled out HOPE in the bleachers. Each sack had a little battery operated tea light inside which lit things up once it got dark.

This is the back of a bag that my mom made as a memorial to Grandpa Lyle and Grandma Glenna (my mom's parents) who we lost to cancer. My mother took it to her family reunion and let all of the family sign the bag and leave messages.

This is the othe side of the bag. My mom did have a picture of the two of them in a heart but the wind took the picture off. But it doesn't really matter, the messages were what is most important.

This is a bag that Chad and I created for my grandparents to be eluminated along the track. I have never known two people who were more Christlike, accepting, giving, forgiving, and incredibly in love with one another. We miss and love them alot but hope that we can carry on their legacy in our own lives. That is a pretty tall order to fill!

Camping with the Smith's

Fun at Bryce Canyon! Most of the Smith grandkids out in the grass. It sure looks like they are having a ball. (we are just missing Nate and Blake)

In Chad's family there is somewhat of a shortage of girls. There are 10 grandsons and only 3 granddaughters. Anyway, where are the 3 girls; Brooklyn -7(back), Jessenia -3 1/2 and Aleah- nearly 3.

This was the way that Aleah got the dirt off while camping. They had a blast swimming in the "hot pool" and "cold pool". It sounds like the campground had everything they needed and the pool was definately a hit!

Aleah and Jessenia loved sleeping in the tent trailer and watching movies. GOOD TIMES!

Aleah and Jessenia (her cousin) were inseperable on the campout. Jesse lives in Arizona so she and Aleah don't get to see each other that often but it sounds like they did not let that stop them. As you can see they both found the dirt hill.

Aleah loves the new trailer. Her and dad went out on two "practice campouts" getting ready for their big trip.

Yes..... she does like playing in the dirt.

Since Blake arrived a little bit early, Chad and Aleah were able to take our new camper to Bryce Canyon and go camping with all of Chad's family. All of Chad's siblings and most of their families were able to attend. Blake and I stayed home, participated in the 24th of July activities in Lund (about 35 miles away) and attempted to improve our nighttime sleep schedule. FYI- we are still working on the sleep schedule : )

Arts in the Park

Aleah made a great friend at the bouncy house that was a huge help.

They were able to make several trips down the slide and jump inside.

Without help Aleah would have been lost in the house with all of the other kids!

Whee. . .

These are the kids with Jim and Joy Vath. Joy is Aleah's and soon
Blake's babysitter. They are amazing people and it seems as though
Blake will take to them just as easily as Aleah did. We feel so very
blessed to have them in our lives both as friends and with Joy to provide childcare for the kids!

Brother and Sister

Daddy has lots of love to give and thankfully plenty of lap space as well!
Blake really likes being swaddled up really tight in his blanket to go to bed.
Aleah has decided that she needs to be swaddled as well.

We are ready to hit the town. This stroller is the best, we can put both kids

in it regardless of their size. We have gone on several walks and they both do very well.

Aleah is the official binky replacer!
